Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music. It was not for a job or as just a pastime, but as a way to improve. In order to do so, she began writing music that was her own. Alongside Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. When her mother told her that her songs can be a catalyst for her to gain not only fame but also help people see the importance of their music in the world and realize the possibilities for her songs, she opted to begin performing publicly. When she was six she started playing the piano. At age nine, she when she began to write songs. She didn't tell her family about it until she reached fourteen. Aurora did not have a set goal. She claims she loves music and writing. Music is for her the most effective way to experience any emotion.
